I get real analytical (and sometimes slightly irreverent) about what it actually takes to make homes an oasis from the chaos. As a teenager, I spent hours in the home goods section of the local retail shops. This brought me a lot of solace during chaotic times for my family. And it has given me a lot of time to think deeper than most about things like socks and drawer dividers.

Through all of this I came to the mantra that real is better than perfect. Here I share my strategies for maintaining a real home.
